Aughtolalia

Aught is a fascinating word. As a pronoun it can mean "anything at all", implying the presence of matter, however vague or undetermined. Yet as a noun, aught means "zero" or "nothing", a complete lack of matter. Collapsing this word with "autolalia", or talking to oneself, suggests that my incessant self-chatter is simultaneously anything and nothing; either way, it completely lacks any substance and should not be taken seriously (except when I'm being serious, of course).

About Me

J M Howell
I talk to myself...a lot. Most times I find that I am talking for no good reason, simply repeating something that I said earlier in the day (or heard on a commercial [FYI what ever happened to "Jitterbug" commercials]). I argue with myself about inane BS that I assume to be the underpinning of the very fabric of our society. I live in Delawhere? with my wife, who patiently listens.
